lMcDowell Memo: A Society of Change or a Society of Basic Principles strictly followed Part 1

A Society of Change or a  Society of Basic Principles strictly followed

This will be an unusual McDowell Memo as it will have multiple parts as I explore the great rift in our societal ways of viewing improvement

Part #1 A Society of Change

Those of us who have experienced 50 or more years of this world will not doubt agree that Change is essential to growing and well conceived society . We will explore several types of change including change for change only, and change to completely change the world. Lets first look at what some of the worlds leaders have said about change .

Here are some other voices on the idea of change
Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek. Barack Obama
Change is a continuous process. You cannot assess it with the static yardstick of a limited time frame. When a seed is sown into the ground, you cannot immediately see the plant. You have to be patient. With time, it grows into a large tree. And then the flowers bloom, and only then can the fruits be plucked. Mamata Banerjee

Okay there is liberal point of view for a more conservative one
For the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: 'If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today? Teddy Roosevelt
You should not allow the world to be you because you are in the world  Billy Graham

So we see as in determining how to make decisions that liberal thought is not only that we should follow ethical (societal) rules and Change should always occur to improve society. Where Conservative thought follows personal moral convictions (normally based upon the Bible) and change should only occur when it will have a positive effect on the world or no change should be done.

Liberals claim to want to give a hearing to other views, but then are shocked and offended to discover that there are other views. William F. Buckley, Jr.

Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive. William F. Buckley, Jr.

So now that I have you head filled with concepts , why are they important ? Because today we have a part of our society that wants to re-write history , to control the very act of birth, to make a society that is very representative of the entire world in one breath and takes step to ruin the entire industry that fuels parts of our country . I have always thought that there has to be a reasonable tracking of the results before we just change if anything would be better.

In Part 2,we will discuss specific thoughts facing us in the near future.

Two Teardrops Steve Winwood
