The McDowell Memo: 2020 A year with a lifetime of potential
As we enter 2020, we are faced with the potential to improve the lives of our children and grandchildren and the opportunity to fail them miserly.
This year we will be faced with decisions such as staying in the Middle East, eliminating the North Korean threat, impeaching a President for disagreeing with the opposing party, and reducing the size of government and the huge number of regulations on us all.
We have for over 20 years had a presence in the middle east to "keep the peace" when in reality , they do not want peace it is a religious war between rival Muslim factions against each other and all "infidels". Do we have the need or right to keep them from killing each other? Do we have to be on the ground there to protect our interests in oil? I would propose that we need to back away and let them settle their wars. But keep protection of the oil that they owe us for driving out the dictators. And I contend that we need to do most of our fighting by air superiority thereby limiting the loss of American lives.
North Korea and the little Fat Man have been a pain in the rest of the world's bottom for years and he needs to go. We need to reach an agreement with China , Russia and Japan as to how and when he needs to be eliminated and act in concert with them to end his tyrannical rule. Allowing Korea to merge back into a unified democratic republic type of government , would unleash a strong economic partner for all the above.
Impeaching the President in the manner the Democrats are trying would be devastating to all future Presidents and validate several of the subversions of the rights that we have under the constitution . We need to quickly and bi-partisan act to end this impeachment and begin to work towards what is best for the country not our parties. We should enact rules for Impeachment that our ratified by the states and made part of the Constitution , these should be fair and consistent.
By far the most important thing to do in 2020 is to eliminate waste and duplication in all government not just the Federal part. We need to look at the size of every agency and how many steps and how much time it takes to get a result from our agencies. We spend way too much time and money just following the process to get the governments to act. Every law should have a cost and burden impact statement attached to it and the validity confirmed by a Federal Court , etc. prior to enactment. Let's be a leaner meaner country, if you attack Americans you will pay a price, if you launch an attack against us then you will pay dearly for that act. If you cheat our companies or steal our intellectual property expect that we will retaliate. Finally, we will not allow any country to interfere with our election process nor will we allow any domestic group to undermine our country without being held to account for the actions .
Last , we must always remember that we exist only because the good Lord allows us to . We get our freedom not from our actions but God's grace.
